Summary:

We first revised the sufferings due to maya kashay, and, then discussed the sufferings due to lobh kashay.

The state of jeeva with kashay is full of sufferings. We live in this state day in and day out. All our (jeeva in material world) activities involve either attachment or hatred. And, these activities are with never-ending desires. Due to mithyatva the jeeva doesn’t realize these sufferings, and on the contrary thinks that he/she is happy. The jeeva doesn’t realize that there could be a state without attachments and hatred. Moreover, neither does it desire, nor make any attempts to attain that state. Due to weak kashay, jeeva’s misery reduces; this however changes when the jeeva experiences extreme levels of kashay. Sometimes external things are instrumental in certain activities, but it is the jeeva who does the derogatory results. For example, the jeeva commits maan kashay when it comes in the contact with another jeeva with extreme maan kashay. Thus, a jeeva looses the sanity, and cannot differentiate between good and bad results.

The things that we learn during dharma-sadhana must be applied to ourselves; and one should not look for examples in the others. Jinvani should result in removal of one’s shortcomings with the correct level of introspection. Also, thoughts of teaching others come during the learning process; but the jeeva ignores the process of introspection to identify and remove its own mithyatva.

Jeeva tries several ways to obtain the things that it desires. This is lobh kashay. It does all these with extreme rati and aasakti. His mind, speech, and body are biased with lobh kashay. The lobh kashay stays the longest in the jeevas in the material world. These desires take control to such extents that the jeeva carries out these activities at the cost of its life. For example, drinking, smoking, etc. Four types of lobhs are predominant in one’s life: a) life should exist, b) should remain healthy, c) should obtain material things, and d) should be able to continuously use these material things. Jeeva in the extreme lobh kashay even takes advantage of the family members, and gurus. It even disregards the advice of the near and dear ones, and does adverse things. For example, jeeva tries: a) to earn money, b) to maintain it, and c) worries about growing it under the influence of extreme lobh kashay. Jeeva tries to protect the things that it likes, and tries to avoid things that it dislikes.

Jeeva’s state under the influence of lobh kashay:
Desires to travel and see the world
Desires to collect things and money
Does window-shopping
Desires to obtain things seen in commercials, and on internet
Increases requirements with the increase in the income
Desires to obtain the things that it sees around itself
Develops addictions, such as, checking the stock price, gas price, exchange rates, etc.
Spends time in useless matters
Doesn’t desire to learn more from jinvani
Doesn’t desire to read and understand the lives of great dharmatmas
Doesn’t think about
the advantages of subhopyog
why it cannot make significant process on dharma-marg
what type of thoughts should it abandon, and grasp
Tries to show off
Blindly follows others
Can’t see faults in the awful activities of the person it likes
Ends up doing things far below its capabilities

Jeeva looses all its vyakt desires after 6th gunsthanak, and avyakt desires after 10th gunsthanak. If it cannot attain the things that it desires, the jeeva may even hurt himself, and in the worst case may kill itself.

Very well written.
Example captured are very good. One should think about giving up unnecessary lobh and the ones that causes Udirana of lobh-kashay.
